Way of the Roses in storm Francis

Five of us tackled the Way of the Roses, form Morecombe to Bridlington , a fantastic route. However after a beautiful day cycling from Morecombe to Settle, the weather closed in & storm Francis hit .

So on leaving Settle after staying at the King William IV guesthouse '( recommended) the rain was torrential & the wind punishing we faced the hardest climb of the tour . Needless to say in those conditions we pushed !

It was a hard ride into the wind over the Yorkshire moors , but elation as we reached the top of Greenhow Hill with the 16% down hill gradient . The pancakes & tea was very welcome in Patley Bridge.

We arrived Ripon like drowned rats but feeling good that we had made it through the moors despite of the weather.

Next day onto Pocklington through York . A good flat ride after the challenges of the previous day just hitting the 50 miles . The ride into York is good along a 4 mile cycle path.

Final day onto the Yorkshire wolds gave some  great views & some good cycling . We rolled into Bridlington after 4 days in the saddle . Would I do it again ? No , purely because there are other routes I've not done before this 64year old body falls apart! Would I recommend the route - YES some good cycling challenges , some great scenery & at times challenging weather.
